Officers reported they were notified by a man who noticed a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Approximately fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Officers then discovered multiple other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis show the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet aware of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.

Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the case" and have asked to the residents for tips.

A high-ranking official said the attack left him without words and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, referring to the killing of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
