The exciting 11-inning matchup that saw the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run averaged a aggregate 51M viewers in the US, Canadian, and Japanese markets. MLB stated this represents the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable game secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also is the top-rated World Series matchup after the 2017 final game involving the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This marks a 16% increase compared to the previous finale between the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed fourth, Game 4 was 7th, the fifth game came in eighth, and Game 3 finished in 13th place.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game averaged over 11 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English-language program in Canada after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – recorded over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-game World Series drew over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded audience growth for two straight years.

Including the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the total American viewership reached over 16 million. The total Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09M watchers, an 8% rise compared to last year and the network’s strongest playoff performance since 2017.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 nations and regions by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen different tongues.
